"Has anyone used moringa?"

All the time. Moringa is most powerful.
Iman eat the leafs raw and drink the flowers as an uplifting tea.
All parts of the tree are useful, especially the leafs: protein like in eggs, calcium 4 times that of milk, vitamin A 4 times that of carrots, more potassium than bananas, more vitamin C than oranges, more iron than spinach. Breastfeeding women and cows give more milk. Moringa treats diabetes and even AIDS. And only one seed can purify 2 litres of water.
For the healing of the nations.

ISES Ras Yohannes for this blessed Iducation.
How does one use Moringa to clean water? Just put the seeds in the water? And where can One find fresh Moringa (Iwombman only find in powders).

Give thanks.
There are different ways of purifying water with Moringa seeds. But the seeds are always crushed and pounded first.
Here is one example: http://miracletrees.org/moringa_water_purification.html
The powder is very good. If it is processed well it has the highest amount of nutrients. But Iman prefer raw herbs in general and growing oneself is best.

Ises Most Haile.

Iwombman admittedly do not study much about "vegan" nutrition, and have stated before that I just do it as simply as possible - eat the largest variety of whole organic plant foods I can find, and assume that the combination has enough vitamins and minerals.

However, I was reading lately for a college course, and the text noted that iodine is often a deficient mineral for people who eat vegan. Iodine IS found in vegetables, however, the amount varies widely depending on the soil in which the plant is grown.
Sea vegetables have large amounts of iodine, actually, too much iodine.

Other sources are iodized salt (not for I&I), sea animal meats etc. (no fish for I either), and iodine supplements in multivitamins (Iwombman also do not like pharmaceuticals or pills at all).

Do the Iyahs know of a reliable iodine source that Iwombman, as an Ital plant eater, no salt, etc. might find acceptable?

Actually at this time, living in San Diego and eating local produce, iodine is not likely to be a personal deficiency; because coastal regions have soil that is also higher in iodine. But if someday Iwombman should find Iself in a landlocked region, it would be good to have options.

Bless up I&I RasTafarI in all harmony and love.
More thanks Itinually for Ital food.

Yes I Sista. No worry about iodine, just include a wide viriety of plants in yo ital recipes n menus then yu gona be irie. Its bn 8 years since I man bcame vegan n I man na nyam no salt yet still I see no iodine deficiency. Iman ina Babylon locked land still so no worry about iodine fo de plants got enough fo I n I nutritional needs. I man think de only deficiency to worry about is fo B12. In I man ital trod, vitamin B12 deficiency is one of de major obstacles n challenges dat I had to face

One love Black Heart. Blessed thanks for the Iducation. Iwombman always assumed that plants high in "B complex" had B-12.
What are some natural resources Iwombman may find B-12? What was Iman solution for the deficiency?
Ises and glory King.

The information below is taken from 'Plant Based Nutrition and Health' by Stephen Walsh (endorsed by the Vegan Society).

All vitamin B12 is produced by bacteria whether it is obtained from fortified foods, supplements, meat, milk or eggs. B12 for use in supplements and fortified foods is produced by fermentation using carefully selected bacteria which have not been genetically modified. This form of B12 is highly absorbable...

Vitamin B12 deficiency usually becomes apparent as neurological symptoms, partiucarly if folate intake is high. The classic symptoms include numbness and tingling, lack of energy, blurred vision, loss of balance and limb control, poor memory, sore tongue and personality changes such as delusion and paranoia. In infants, B12 deficiency manifests as loss of energy, appetite and alertness and can progress to coma and death. Onset is also more rapid than in adults. All symptoms are reversable if caught early enough but damage can become permanent, particularly in children...

A minority of primates have a second stomach, which acts as a bacterial fermenter (similar to the rumen of grazing animals) and provides an on-board source of B12... All other primates, like humans, require an external supply of B12 from bacteria outside their body. Vegans do not deliberately eat insects, and neither soil nor faeces are particularly attractive to most modern humans. Fortunately we now have technology to havest B12 directly from bacteria, thus removing the need for an intermediary and avoiding the risk of infection. Fortified foods and supplements provide a very reliable and well established source of B12 with no unwanted extras.

Some vegans, particularly those following raw food diets, are reluctant to use supplements or fortified foods. Unfortunately, none of the commonly suggested alternatives such as spirulina, nori or blue-green algae has been shown to contain sufficient true B12 to be a realistic source.

..It goes on to recommend 3 micrograms over the course of a day from fortified foods, or, 10 micrograms once daily from a supplement, or, 2000 micrograms once a week from a supplement.
