Numerous studies have revealed that curcumin metabolites have antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. So if we are taking black pepper to suppress the metabolism of curcumin the question is how do we know if some of the intended effects of tumeric come from the curcumin or from its metabolites? This was my main concern. Luckily, curcumin is metabolised both in the liver and in the intestines. Taking black pepper only inhibits liver metabolism. So either way, you still end up with curcumin and some of its metabolites circulating in your bloodstream after eating with some pepper. Although some say to have any detectable levels you need to eat at least 4g of turmeric / day.

Wow very interesting. Give Ises JAH Idren Garveys Africa. So the point seems to be: eat turmeric, with and without black pepper, a lot. Haha
Bless the Iytal allways.

Can anyone suggest some staple raw Ital dishes, because I would love to have a bit more variety, and I seem to be having the same things everyday, and although completely Ital, ie jah made it in it's perfect form I would love to have something a bit different. Would love to hear any suggestions,

All the best,

Joe

Ises JAH Idren Joe.
I eat basically the same things everyday also... Haha there is a point where variety ceases to be a health topic and becomes a gluttony topic, seen?
I also am learning that it may not be what I&I eat, but what I&I drink, that affect the Itality the most. Smoothies, herbal and fruit teas, soups. It seems like the water dissolves the vitamins and helps the body to absorb them much better? That is simply what I am guessing, because I feel much stronger when I drink Ital instead of eating it.
This is a smoothie recipe I shared w an Idren recently:
"Nutty Fruit Smoothie:
in blender:
-handful soaked almonds (or any other soaked nut)
-frozen banana
-about 300ml coconut water
-2 oranges, with just a little bit of the peel too
-1 medium piece of kale, break it up some w the hands before putting in blender
-a few ice cubes
I use the blender often, just throw anything I want in there. Today I did one like this one but without the kale, and with some lime juice, lime skin, and flax seeds. Sometimes I add apples or even avocado. Iytahl"
In some Ites I am sure the blender itself is also not Ital, but for now I use it for its purpose! I suppose the I can also grate everything by hand and then shake it all together to blend it up.
Bless UP King. Sometimes when I am thinking that I do not have enough options for Ital Food, I realize that I need to go volunteer feeding homeless people or something like this. Seeing the way people live when they really have few options, makes I&I thankhfull for the options that I&I have. Variety in herbs, fruits and veggies is very important tho, to get the full vitamin and mineral spectrum.

Dear Jah Child,

Thank you very much for your recipe. Just seeing the ingredients, I can imagine it's taste and my mouth is watering! I am definitely going to try this and report back! Thanks!

As for watery things, as you said that you prefer a diet more orientated towards liquid, I could suggest some of my personal favourites. Since it is of my interest to keep my flesh as pure as is possible, I have chosen ingredients that are known for their detox properties;

Beetroot and Lemon juice

Put 1 whole beetroot and 1/2 a large lemon in a juicer and drink it!

I find that the earthiness of the beetroot is masked by the sourness of the lemon, and this balances in such a way that is actually very pleasant to drink.

Onion, garlic, spinach and chlorella juice

This one isn't for the faint hearted! It will purify so dramatically, that I would recommend going easy on it!

1 Large onion
3 cloves of Garlic
1 large bunch of spinach
1 heaped tablespoon of chlorella powder

Juice the first 3 ingridients and add the fourth! Drink!

Celery and Cucumber juice

Very cooling, pleasant taste; much easier to stomach than the others!

Cucumber: Celery ratio is 50:50 for weight. Juice as much as you want and drink!

------------------------------------------------

You made a good point about the fact that we are very priviledged to have this choice of what to eat. This is very true, and InI am increasingly living off what I grow for myself, although I still have to buy most of the stuff I eat.

Thank you again for the suggestions,

All the best,

Joe

Ises + love I JAH.
I am glad the I mentioned Beetroot because Iwombman have been wanting to reason up on that one.
I know that monsanto currently produces roundup ready (GMO) sugar beet. Beetroot is a different type of the beet plant, but I am wondering if the red beet is genetically pure, or if it has potential to breed with the modified sugar beets?
Iwombman avoid ingesting corn, soy, canola, beet, and cottonseed because I realize that the breeding potential from GMO to original plant is pretty high, even unintentionally across fences.
Do any of the I's have more information on the beetroot and whether or not the sugar beet can reproduce w it in pollenation or the like?
Blessed Iducation Itality.

Ackee

Our national fruit

Good for blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, and dietary fibre, and vitamins B and C.

Add some Callaloo for Iron, variety of amino acid/protein and antioxidants

For a very Jamaican Ital dish........

I'm sorry JAH child that I can't provide information on the GM status of the beetroot. I have always just bought organic.

And thanks Garveys Africa for the Akee and Calaloo suggestion.

--------------------------------------------------------------

My new recipe, called "Laxi bisc". Perfect to take on trips out.

Laxi bisc is made with Oats, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, linseeds, oatbran, olive oil and water. Enough to define the word laxative!

It was my mom who made them, so I will get the proportions of the recipe from her tomorrow, but basically it majors on the chia seeds as they are gelatinous and hold the biscuit together. Slow baked in the oven.

All the best,

Joe

Blessed love to InI

Iyah has been looking through the recipes on here and have tried some of them. Most have been very good so Iman give thanks to all the I for that. Just one question, what is a simple dinner iyah can make in a short amount of time? Tuesdays and Thursday iman has to leave early not giving iyah a lot of time to make a nice meal. Any suggestions?
Thanks and praises to Jah

Some simple favourites for me;

simple dish 1

1)Boil (organic) brown rice. This is the longest part, and takes 20 minutes. Other steps can be done whilst it is cooking, so total time is 20 minutes
2)Under the grill, grill 1 salmon fillet (wild caught). Seems there is some debate about fish, but I eat it sometimes. Should take 10 minutes, so do while rice is boiling.
2)Peel and cut 1 large avocado in bowl
3)Peel and cut 1 red onion into the same bowl
4)Drizzle olive oil onto the mix and cut and add raw garlic
5)Cool and add brown rice, and add salmon.

simple dish 2

To a bowl, add some Oats, fruit of your choice (I love avocado and blueberries), nuts of your choice (I love brazil nuts/hemp seeds), honey (I buy a wild harvested honey) and peanutbutter (IMPORTANT, must be 100% peanuts, organic. If there is another ingridient, I wouldn't use it). Add water. Done.

All the best,

Joe
