Israel is within the continent of Africa as described in historical and biblical maps of Africa. From Egypt and all across the Land of Canaan was known as the bible land of Ham. In 1901, an American Admiral by the name of Alfred T. Mahan initiated the term "Middle East" to identify Israel and surrounding areas as such. When the current inhabitants adopted Judaism and moved into Israel, the name "Middle East" became more prominent. FYI, the original Israelites (Hebrews) are not Hamites; they are Shemites. The term Semites was created by those currently occupying Israel.
