His comedy was actually quite a bit more than simply comedy (although the ability to make people laugh is a divine gift). He actually saw through the bullshit to the essence of most big issues in politics, economics....just life in general.

Nesta, you make a truely valid point there. Living a life of procastrination could make someone have a closed mind. I remember once when I was young I seen a quote on a postcard in Holland "the mind is a wonderful thing to waste" I don't know why that's always stuck with me all these years? :)
