The wall is emblematic of a mean-spirited, unapologetic, crumbling American Empire engaged in final acts of desperation. A true superpower, world leader, and symbol of the power of freedom would IMPOSE upon Latin American a prosperity to counteract nearly 200 years of Monroe Doctrine crimes imposed upon it and INDUCE potential Latin American immigrants to remain in their own lands as the fruits of prosperity begin to blossom. In other words, it would ACT like a superpower instead of a frightened child. This would easily be accomplished with a fraction of the resources squandered in perpetual wars with no missions or goals abroad, which serve only the interest of a corrupt set of corporate & institutional entities. Like the wall, these wars were also sold to the American people on the bogus basis of "national security". No wall will stop the movement of JAH People.

No, that's not what i want. Heck, i'm not happy that Mr. Trump and his boneheaded trade advisors are waging economic warfare on the United States. "The fact is, there is a violent and deadly humanitarian crisis on the southern border of the USA" No fact at all. Just paranoid illusions whipped up by a man-boy president for political purposes and broadcast by some news media for entertainment value. It isn't a drop in the ocean of the bloodshed by the United States in order to steal half of Mexico's territory from it. We should all be thankful that Mexicans opted to peacefully occupy and resettle their national homeland and share it with Americans rather than attempting to retaking it violently.

As far a Venezuela goes, under capitalism they were more wealthy in the 50's and 60's than the USA per capita.. Since socialism has been forced on them, they are a failed state.. By design.. But its interesting as Brazil and Columbia has strengthened their borders to combat the dangerous situation on their Venezuelan border.. Border walls/fences WORK!

Hemphill, America doesn't practice pure capitalism. Any economist will tell you that. Western countries mostly have a mix of capitalism and socialism. Your problem is that you deal in absolutes. Who here said they were calling for a complete change to communism or socialism. If you aren't dealing in absolutes you can address the disadvantages of capitalism. Where capitalism fails is how those without money are barely able to survive. It works for people who are making money but what if you're poor, or sick, or elderly? Are you fated to be a walmart greeter just to afford your overpriced medicine? Why don't you see that this isn't working? What we need is balance. As far as Venezuela its not that capitalism is supreme its that its difficult to transition. Period. You can't go to sleep one day capitalist and wake up the next communist without someone getting screwed. People's motives are also important. You can do something good that benefits mostly you. You can give 10 million dollars to a charity (in America) and only $400 gets spent helping whatever cause you were trying to support. So when a person is doing something thinking how they can benefit, their corruption gets baked into the system. Look at Russia. Look at China. China is communist and many people live below the poverty line but we're in debt to them.

America one of the few countries which fully recognises 'Jus Soli' nationality meaning any child born on US soil is a US national. Including if you give birth while on holiday or while there illegally. And if your child is a national then you get half a bligh But I don't advise it.
