I have an Idren that tried for years to deal with it himself, I think He had a hyper thyroid issue (produces too much), but eventually he decided to go the medical route, because other methods didn't help. He is fine now but I think He has to regularly take medicine for the rest of his life because they essentially killed his thyroid.

Iodine deficiency is one of many causes of thyroid trouble, which can include auto-immune. Best to take the tests first
