The bible is a mixed multitude. Mix of scriptures, allegory, symbolism, and historical facts. Can be a stumbling block, confusing, sometimes literal and sometimes not. Math and ancient mystery. The bible does say that Israelites grew to great multitude while Joseph was running things. So they were living in peace with the Egyptians during that time of growth.

It is mentioned that Joseph and his brothers and their generation died, and the next generation multiplied greatly, I believe because they lived in the best of the land of egypt, so they had enough food and drink and great joy. This initial population of the generation of Joseph's and his brethren's children is a solid foundation for a remarkedly wide multiplication of Israel.

Up to the reign of Menelik II, only male heirs from an unbroken line of male descendants of David and Solomon and Menelik I ruled Ethiopia and presided over the ark of the Lord of Israel, despite some interferences by other power-hungry rulers. Menelik II was the last heir in an unbroken line of male fatherhood and heirdom to David and Solomon and Menelik I to reign in Ethiopia. All who came after Menelik II were of female descent from David, and Selassie for instance had David's blood from his father's mother. However, there are roumours that Menelik had a male son from a previous relationship who sought asylum and exiled himself in Kenya after Empress Taytu was not in good terms with Menelik's first lover. How genuine or reliable is this roumor ?
