White guy Dreadlocks

So I'm a white Rastafari, and I want to grow dreadlocks. My hair is kept nice and is almost to my shoulders, I was wondering if I should have dreadlocks, I think I might be able to pull them off but does any body have any tips for me? Wax, oils, etc?
