I not into welding but know and work around ones who do weld.
D industry I work in ones who weld mostly don't work hard, seem to get more respect and more pay than most other crafts.
A good combination welder has no trouble finding employment round yah.
I don't kno where d I is located but if d I with traveling, lower Louisiana is having a boom in construction that may last for close to ten years.
Welders are always needed being a combination Welders is a great advantage.
The average pay is around $30 but usually more, right now it's real easy for Welders to make 80-100 grand or better a year in dis area.
Many people from all over the US, Latin America, Caribbean, India and East Asian are down yah now working. At one time wasn't much immigration to d area.
Oh and yes Iyah it's seem about half the Black Welders is see have 'dreads' but most places don't allow beards tho.
The bulk of these jobs are all within a hours drive from each other!

I'm about to enroll in the program(welding) and my dreads are around shoulder length. Was wondering if that length and longer, will be highly dangerous when working different welding jobs( cause of sparks and ect? Or should I just cut them off, to better protect my safety out in the field

Thanks. Bless.

I see many welders with locks longer than shoulder length

Den dem can't tie up?or wear a hat man?

If you have taken a vow not to trim then no job can be a excuse

Especially not in 2015, where man can claim a lawsuit for cultural discrimination and get enough $ to never have to work again

Welding is pretty unhealthy, so other options may be better for your health.

I see man wear hat, tie up, Iself wear stocking and I locks are bout I waist and hard hat on top. But welding is concentrated more to d front so tie to d back and cover with ur choice of covering if choose to cover. I see some ones wha 6' and over with locks wha pass waist cover up and even tie up and put on hard hat

I haven't done the vow, but i was wondering will jah look down upon me differently because i cut off my locks? And i've been thinking it over, if i have to cut my locks everything else should pick up a notch I.E Praying, healthy living, good works. Just my opinion on it.

Would love others advice.
