Anyone telling us that His Majesty was insincere (or casting doubt upon His sincerity) when He spoke of His Love of Jesus Christ and the Bible or that we should second-guess H.I.M's. historical record as a de facto denunciation of Christ's Teachings is a person of suspicious motivations to me. Impugning H.I.M.'s integrity and sincerity in one's zeal to "Burn JC and Burn bible" is not what a RastafarI who overstands who Haile Selassie I truly is would do. There are intellectually honest and straightforward ways to express one's own problems or dissatisfaction with Christianity without painting His Majesty as duplicitous in the attempt to deny or cast doubt upon the sincerity of His Majesty's faith. Casting doubt upon the sincerity of Haile Selassie's own expressions of faith serves the Enemy's goals, not JAH's.
It has been conjectured that His Majesty may have exhorted us to emulate the example of Jesus Christ out of cynical political motives and not out of His sincere concern for our well being (i.e., because emulating Christ's life "assures Us also of Harmony and Good Life upon Earth"). If His Majesty would deceive us about a matter of such importance, why would we believe anything He taught us? His Majesty has never lied to me. I take a dim view of those trying, for self-serving purposes, to undermine my confidence in His Majesty Haile Selassie's sincerity and veracity.
