woe is the woman in those times? I refuse to let the bible skew my interpretation of the original wombman.

By 'those times' I mean around the era that the story was written-not the time set in the story. And Christians used to have very harsh views about a woman's role. A woman was a subordinate to her husband. they had much fewer rights and were often treated as possessions. I believe women deserve much more respect than that. A woman should treat herself and be treated like a queen :)
