I was raised in the Protestant church (which I rejected) and NEVER ONCE in all those years did I hear anyone allude to Jesus' skin color as being WHITE. I do remember hearing people in the church observe that no one knew for sure what color Jesus' skin was and that they could only speculate. One thing was for sure: He was the professed Savior of All People.
There is an obsession among a small group of people here who are still dwelling in the racism mindset of the 1950's-60s, and stubbornly refuse to move ahead and forget about what color people's skin is. I have CLOSE FRIENDS of every different color/race/nationality you can think of (e.g., Chinese, Latino mestizos, Native Americans, African Americans, Africans, Jamaicans, Vietnamese, Kashmiris, Indians, Filipinos, Russians, Europeans) and NONE of them is obsessed about race, color or our appearance differences. We talk about world affairs or spiritual matters without any regard whatsoever to differences in our appearance.
There is a group of people here who have been poisoned by an old toxic mentality that people have been working very hard (in direct conformance with Haile Selassie's expressed desires) to eradicate for over a half century. I have no African American friend here (among the half dozen that I see regularly) who ever brings up this kind of racial supremacy/discrimination stuff. They're adults who have long since gotten by it and realize that their value is measured by their characters, and if they encounter dumb people who see that differently (i.e., from a racial bias perspective) they simply ignore them. I've mentioned to some African American friends what is written here by Black Supremacists, but I can't write here what their reactions are or it might be regarded as racist speech (i.e., needless to say they think it's radicalize, immature nonsense).
I can't help but shake my head in sadness to see racism brought into this debate in conjunction with desecrating Christianity and His Majesty's profoundly articulated embrace of Christ. This truly reflects an obsession with a vile mentality that so many people in the world of all colors have fought so hard for so long to push aside and reject/overcome that it's tragic to see it resurrected and celebrated here (and obviously by some people of a younger generation).
