Jahcub

First, the lack of inclusion of the book of Jasher in the bible doesn't bother me because the bible is a library of books that was decided by men, not God - which is why that library changed several times.

Second, Nimrod wasn't the only ruler to declare himself a god or demigod. This is a typical tool of the aristocrat who enjoys power. The key to this claim is not necessarily that Nimrod thought he was god but that he could exploit the people's belief in the gods. It is a political weapon of mass protection.

What do I mean?

Back in those times you didn't have democracy so you had an elite few dictating to the masses. This was true all over the world. The few would claim ownership of land but if others don't respect that ownership then what can they do? Nations and tribes would fight over land all the time. So claiming you're entitled doesn't mean anything to someone who has the power to simply take it from you. Once people realized that they had the power to overthrow the wealthy few this also became a threat looming over the wealthy's heads.

So what did they do? They used the gods as leverage. They claimed that the gods had chosen them. It was basically a democracy in which fictitious gods did all the voting. So as long as the king had a priest or two to cosign, the people wouldn't rebel because even if they weren't afraid of the king they were afraid of the gods. And so that became the leverage of kings. All they had to do was say they were chosen by God.

Now think about how this is used in the bible.

The Israelites were called a stiff-necked people. As soon as they got out of Egypt they got Aaron to build them a golden calf. This represented something more than just a different god. It represented an end to Moses's authority because his authority came from his claims that he was sent by the god of their forefathers, Yahweh. Of course he is the one who even came up with that name so they didn't and couldn't really connect this god to a prior history/reputation. They were 400 years into losing their original culture. African Americans took less time to lose our African culture and embrace Christianity and the bible. And this had the effect of pacifying us and making us more easily controlled by the ruling whites.

Moses committed genocide on anyone who would not believe in his invisible God, giving them no choice but to follow him. All he needed was a little stage craft and zero witnesses to what he claimed to have seen on mount Sinai. The people didn't want an invisible God so Moses gave them a God who only he had seen.

And in the end it worked. Moses and his lineage became the wealthy elites of Israel and the other tribes didn't really rebel until they decided to split up. But no one challenged Moses because they had too much to fear. Not only did they fear Yahweh who would kill you for picking up sticks on Shabbat, but Moses who spoke for Yahweh. In the end, this was no different from how other nations used religion to control the masses, claiming some kind of relationship between the gods and the ruling families.

This is all based on their word; the word of the wealthy elites who try to own the world and everyone in it. Why should we believe them? What loyalty do we owe to their supposed credibility? Just asking. If I told you that God sent me to collect money from you you wouldn't believe me. So why should we believe them? They lived like kings because we gave them that power.

Live up brethren, our spiritual path might be different but we are still bind into One Love and One Blood. I and I heart goes out to you all

I pointed to Jasher because it tells a story of a man (Nimrod) teaching people to worship/follow a man over the Most High Jah.

The Israelites had not lost their knowledge of the Most High Jah in the time of Moses. Those that trod with Jah know Jah and it is a love and a knowledge that Idureth for Iver. Some may loose there way for a time, get caught and trapped in Babylon, but that love of Jah, Jah Love, will again come and set the captives free, again and again. For Jah so Loves His children.

Why should we believe those that claim there is a Jah? Seek and you will find is my only answer. If you know yourself, the Iself, then you shall find the Kingdom of Jah within you and all around you. I and I. The I in all Iration.

Jah is all around you, in every cell of your being sustaining your very life and all else that is beyond you.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of Jah, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

The only thing that can create energy is energy. The idea of a creator implies personification of a creative Force which is an Abrahamic religious concept.

The argument of creation is a matter of quantum physics and not a matter of bible.

To the computer programmer - to suggest that the Iniverse was created by random processes is not to say that there wasn't a creative force ...or a force....binding and even directing these things. This can be logically reasoned using superstring and gravitational wave theories. And through the concept of Iyarics. There is no conflict of reasoning

The idea of God, Jah, Lord of Lords, Yaweh, Devil. Are all learned concepts from Judeochristianity. And none essential to the trod of Rastafari.

Rastafari never began with man and man claiming Haile Selassie is God but Haile Selassie is I and I in a response to black man seeing the divinity in himself through Haile Selassie. An African redemptive thought. Anything that came next is tertiary

Personification of creative forces, or of natural phenomena, has existed since before Abraham religions. It exists in Kemetic and in Indian teachings and really most other religions. That is what most of them deities and demigods are "personifications of creative forces".

Jah is beyond such personifications.
Jah is most certainly essential to the trod.

How is there Jah RasTafarI with no Jah?
Haile Selassie is the Power of the Trinity. All them biblical names and titles, HIM was prophecised about long long long time ago, by many cultures and troditions.

Rastaman in the hills, the Incients, the I them chant Jah! RasTafarI! Since the begining.

This thread is not about Jah Love or about having love and raspect for His Majesty. Would Rastas tell Selassie burn JC burn Bible? Ah maybe some would, maybe some did.

IXPninja, A couple of random thoughts derived from reading your comments:

- No, we needn’t all agree. That’s what makes life spicy and makes this kind of reasoning interesting. Seeing the different perspective of those who I-dentify themselves a RastafarI here on this forum is fascinating, and very rewarding and consciousness-raising communication as long as people stay cool and treat each other and each other's thoughts with respect. As RastafarI, whose views are most frequently out of step with the Babylon world in which we live, we learn to practice tolerance or we alienate ourselves hopelessly and limit our opportunities to communicate Truth with others.

- The notion of “God” is more than an idea that someone invented along the way. It’s archetypal in that it is found in widely disparate societies between which there is no evidence of interaction. It its mythological function, “God” is more than an intellectual notion; it’s contained in feelings (emotions) from which intellectual concepts like “soul” or “Holy Spirit” are also spawned.

- “The poor were always the most ignorant.” –- This just struck me as a kind of odd statement as I&I have learned more personally about the wisdom and values that are most important in Life from poor people.

-You are correct: Names like JAH, Yahweh, Allah and so forth are handles used to describe something so huge and abstract (e.g., an Energy, an Omniscience and the like) that it is intrinsically ineffable .

- "[The Bible] needs to be understood in the context in which it was written" -- That would be ideal, but since we do not really understand the context in which it was written fully, we need to bring our own brains and true hearts with us to the reading of the Bible and listen to the voice of JAH within. My own perception is that the Bible has been corrupted and adulterated over the centuries by people with ulterior motives. These corrupted parts are apparent if viewed through the lens of a true heart and Righteousness.

-"We're dealing with the same issues generation after generation " --You very close to hitting it right on the head, the nature of an enduring evil mentality.

-"Back in those times you didn't have democracy so you had an elite few dictating to the masses" - If you take a hard look at virtually all large social systems, even so-called "democracies", you tend to find that what they really are is "an elite few dictating to the masses". All that differs from one to another is the window dressing and how/what the masses are programmed to believe. I&i chose a monarchy led by H.I.M. as opposed to mob rule, which is what true democracy sort of implies.

Personification (or anthropomorphism) of the Creator and/or of the Powers that bestow and govern Life is a symbolic simplification that is found in mythologies throughout human history. There nothing inherently "wrong" with it any more than it's inherently wrong to describe an All-Powerful God and give Him (or Her, if you prefer) a Name. It's all part of trying to conceptualize within the human brain phenomena that are really huge and difficult to wrap one's mind around. In science, we freely name forces and phenomena that we don't fully understand and/or which are to big to describe easily (e.g., "quantum mechanics" comes to mind).
Whether we want to reduce Love to an inanimate energy phenomena or recognize that there are some awesome and potent attributes to Love which cannot be explained by our knowledge of science alone, it's hollow (and seems deficient) to consider topics like Life and Creation without factoring in Love.

Almost every Rastaman grew up a Christian Jahcub what is your point? Christianity had NOTHING to do with the onset of Rastafari. When Rastafari was birthed brethren didn't know or care of the religion of His Majesty. Again a secondary tertiary learned matter. "Rising from the proliferation of Ethiopianism and Pan-Africanism" which Howell learned in Harlem not Church. Many early Rastaman didn't want to hear a Damn thing about any Bible or God

Without Christianity and Bible there would still be Rastafari

Without Ethiopianism and PanAfricanism there is no Rastafari

Nuff Rastaman SCARED SHITLESS to put down the Bible and come OUT of Christianity stepping INTO an original paradigm. The mere fact NO black man was practicing Christianity before and without foreign interference.... is a sad fact many refuse to face. Africa is home to the most abundant plethora of spiritual paradigms completely outside and external to Abraham religions yet many brethren don't want to go into it due to plantation level mindwashing

What a ting

The tribes of Africa today and of past who have never heard of Jesus or a Christ or Bible are JUST as deserving of Haile Selassie and divinity as the I Dem who are noosed to the Bible. Yes those "savages" are just fine without Christ as you were lol
