There was a boy who was born in Harar
There was a boy born in the land afar
His name was Johnhoya, his father name was Mekonnen
His heart was always full, it was never broken
He became a governer, and then a king
He became emperor, and to his name praises they sing
He tried his best to make Zion shine
Conquering Lion Of Judah, he prevails everytime
Five years he spent in the land of Great Britain
Horrific atrocities from Mussollini he bore witness
Won his country back with honor
was his heart broken those years, I Wonder
Gave teachings to his children, feel it in the one drop

Johnhoya was overthrew by the derg
