Blessings Children of JAH
I've started this post to focus on spirits and mystics. Now I'd been reasoning with JAH Bird on spirit possession in African culture and how spirit mediums have been a part of revolutionary struggles against colonialism. Now I overs this to be the hand of JAH as there are many things JAH reveal unto I n I and we can never fully over HIS powers or fully overs the mysterious ways in which He works. JAH's mysticness is just too incredible for the human mind to fully over and some things are beyond I n I.

Now Ras Power said something that interested I, Aya you wrote,
"i cannot believe what im hearing, and thats why i only speak of that H.I.M said read the bible. the wages of sin is death, the gift of Jah is life
are u saying the dead don't die?"
Please elaborate Aya before I ras-pond before I say what's on I mind I'll give the I a chance to explain further.

And also I'd like to ask the I them if there are any stories of spirit mystics at the time His Majesty was born and when the Italians invaded Abyssinia. It'd be interesting to know.

Greetings...

Possession is definately a force acknowledged in Ethiopia. Those possessed are known to have a "Zar", it's something thought of as negative and those who remove one's zar are skilled at doing so, I mean you don't just bring anybody over to remove a zar. EOTC priests deal with this as well. There's also "Booda" which is like a curse transmitted from one to another, usually known to come from one's eye when they look at someone else with envy, jealousy, some negative feeling, there are various practices used to remove the curse from someone. These are things which have existed for a long time in Ethiopia, and other places, the evil eye, or booda, is known all around the world very different cultures. These are negatives though, and my knowledge of voudou possession is that it is not so much a negative as a full spectrum (positives and negatives), voudou is an ancient african religion though, very powerful.

Ethiopia, however, is full of spirit mediums and psychics, sorcerers of sorts as well. These people often work for money, so I'm quite skeptical, however, I've heard a lot of different stories, some very striking, I'm not One to discount others life experiences, I cannot really judge these things. His Majesty coming from Harar was definately aware of these things. I've read that His Majesty had outlawed some practices that while considered magic were quite ridiculous and unfair. However, these practices continue in ET today, and I have to assume that His Majesty allowed the existence of some of these practices for some reason. What the West calls superstition goes a long ways in ET, sometimes the Western mind doesn't overstand what's going on.

The Debterra, schooled in the EOTC monastic schooling system, is also One who deals with mystical practices including making various charms for protection in this life and the life after. Today you can find the sorcerer of the Christian and Muslim and Other faiths in Ethiopia, all these practices stem from pre christian livity, a lot of Kemetic practice still gets incorporated.

We even hear stories of young Tafari doing things impossible...

So, this isn't an opinion piece, just speaking on what I've heard and seen, I'd be interested to see Ones add to this.

Ethiopian 'Magic' Scrolls
Ethiopian gospel or prayer scrolls, often referred to as ‘magic scrolls’, were believed to hold protective and healing powers, and were carried by the owner at all times. They were inscribed with prayers, spells and charms originally designed to offer protection to their owner. Each one was designed for the individual patron. Inscribed with prayers, spells and charms, the text was often excerpted from sacred books such as Gospels and thuswere tolerated by the Ethiopian Church in spite of their connection to magical practices. Clients commissioned their scrolls for diverse reasons, using them to undo spells, restore health, combat sterility and even ward off demons. The dabtara, or ordained cleric responsible for producing the object, specifically tailored the size and content of the scroll to the physical and spiritual characteristics of his client, using painted decoration to enhance the scrolls protective properties
The process began with the selection and sacrifice of a particular animal. The dabtara washed the client in the animals’ blood as part of the process of purification. Three strips of parchment were then made from the skin of the animal and stitched together to form a single scroll equal in length to the height of its owner. The object, therefore, maintained a direct, physical connection to its owner, enhancing the power of its magic.

ISELF as stated in the other post am not so keen with this. i will collect i thoughts and explain again.
Ten give thanks for this post.

well as SonofMan wrote it is very true 'booda, ,'zar', 'ginni' 'lekift'etc etc are are the same with differnt names. Those possesed are then taken to the church for the clergy to pray on them, many of time they literaly beat the devil out of them. Untill they call onn the name of the Most High.
As the I Ten have said there are good and bad spirits and i agree.I sight spirit no in the sence of ghost or some thing like that. I have seen in my own eye and this- is true- people gather around in a ceremony where they use "chat"or "qat"(that is the plant which is legal in Ethiopia) -chweing on them till they get high. Then the 'one'that is able to do that (prophesies)will tell you things that no one knows about you, and then tells you oh you will have a good future bla bla and i'll pray for you if you give me gold chains or some som of money etc. Belive I people buy into it, because they were told somethings private.
I know that this tadition has been going on for many many years, it would not surprice me if it was done in the 30's and if many predictions were made. But i have never heard of One for certain.
But it is a big big lie and wickedness, the I ble teaches I and I that it is wrong and wicked. The good spirits are the angles of the Almighty Jah and the bad the 0pposite.
I used to think that my loved once that are resting were aroung I etc etc, but NO they are resting. The Ethiopian word for those who died is= Rest ="arfewal".
Yesus Christis took the wickedness out of the man by the river, and the child.Wouldn't he have left it there if it were good.
well this is I thought as the I know i have posted the Ible passages on the other form.
But it is better to let the resting rest and I and I forward in I and I livity, Life according to the most High.
Once dead I and I is dust notting more. Till the time come when i and i dwell with I Father in the holy mountain.
Blessed

Give Thanks for the elaboration, Jah Bird...

For I own part, I don't agree with the I's statement totally...

"Once dead I and I is dust notting more"

I think this life is a chance, King, so that we might rise to the fullness of our potential, the higher Self, in this life are we not capable of achieving immortality? It is my firm feeling that we are. In the same way, I think this life is a chance to descend into the depths of our lower self, and at the time of life's transition, we may become that dust, as the soul could be terminated, maybe not. Either way, I make a distinction between the soul and the body, the two currently residing as One, will part, the body, will be dust, but what of the soul?

That is what i meant when i said that i and i must forward in this life , that is the only chance we have to defeat death is in life =immortality.
The body will turn to dust that is sure. Why is that difficult to overs?
as long us i and i are in flesh i and i can praise.
is dead lion better than a living dog? NO.

the soul is the breath of life that is given for I and I to live. What is a breath without the man/woman breathing it. Is this life we live not for Jah? to sight HIM and to dwell with HIM for iver?
The soul according to the works will get the reward.
Blessed

Give thanks for the I them reasonings. I do overs what Jah Brid said in the last post and why this may be an uncomfortable topic. The direction its beginning to take makes I uncomfortable too because I intention was to learn more about how spirit mediums can be useful in times of war esp with regard to Ethiopia. I gave I example in the last post abt Nehanda in Zimbabwe and how this spirit warrior helped defeat the British. This is there in other African countries so I wanted to know if there spiritual warriors who assisted His Majesty in the times of the Italian invasion. I only want to speak of spirit mediums and wars of resistance because if I n I begin to talk about all kinds of spirit mediums then the reasoning just becomes something else and we shift the focus from RasTafarI and start to entertain things that are not of RasTafarI way. its not that I don't appreciate what the I them have to share, no I'm always open to learning but this is about mystics and RasTafarI, mystics and revolutionary movements across The World. For example the Native Americans praying doing the rain dance to defeat their enemies, or the powers of a shaman in times of war. It is not bad witchcraft or bad vodou or commercialised tv shows abt 'voices from beyond the grave' and neither is this about reviving the dead. I hope you overs what I'm getting at, that wars are not just about a physical battle of weapons and armies. Reason forward.
Blessed Love

[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
[2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
[3] And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I personally would be very careful when messing around with spirits, it would seem very easy to I for a demon to fool you.
