If it is coming
Welcome it with open arms
If the end is near
Rejoice in closure
For the only thing to fear
Is your Self
If you’re going to paradise
Why worry about
Who is left behind
If the day is coming
Shouldn’t you be trying to get a ticket
Why are you advertising
It’s not even your show
Are you expecting
Backstage passes
Or VIP status
Because of what you’ve been through
Everybody’s been through it
One way or another
And if your seat was secure
You would already understand
Know what’s coming
And be prepared
Winners don’t fight battles
For the amusement of others
Winners put on the show
Build the sets
Sew the clothes
And paint the masks
Because they already know
How to make magic
Right before your eyes
They’re not wearing a disguise
They have on a uniform
That says exactly what they do
Who they work for
And that they mean business
Official business
They are not warning of problems
They are fixing what’s broken
And building what works
Preparing for the day
When everyone can see
What they have been
Working for
Getting ready for
Saying was going to happen
So beware the prophet
Standing naked in a storm
Shouting prophesy to God
For any wise man knows
God doesn’t speak in prose
God is free form stanzas
Shooting haiku arrows
Like rays of sunshine
To keep you out of the cold
Hearts are made of tissue
To catch a runny nose
Mucus is the glue that binds
Keep that in mind
And you’ll be ahead of the game
Behind the scenes
Where the truth lies
In order to tell stories
To those who believe with their eyes
So they can justify
Wearing a disguise
To hide from salvation
There’s no epiphany
Without meditation
Dedication to thought
For the sake of thinking
Which is the only way
To understanding
What lies below
And stands above
Simultaneously
Without falling into the naked abyss
Waiting on either side of right now
This moment
Is gone
Why waste the next moment
Defining the last
The only way to get ahead
Is to think ahead
So spend your todays
Preparing for your tomorrows
And in the end
You’ll be all caught up
So you can go out and play
Instead of working all day
To pay for yesterday
No body’s promised tomorrow
But some are soul survivors
And they are eternally grateful
