Speak to Jah RasTafarI honestly and truly and your prayers must be correct.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Who can tell the I what is correct for the I? Beware of anyone who presumes to answer your question.

A spiritual tradition is a path not a destination. There is however much to be gained by consciously accepting a tradition rather than submitting to a "spiritual authority" believing it to be closer to JAH than the I is.

There are several paths within Rastafari, the I can check the ways of the Nyahbinghi, the Twelve Tribes of Israel, the Boboshanti and others. If JAH calls the I to Rastafari a path will surely open, just don't stop troddin' forward.

ONE LOVE

I find it helpful to recite the Lord's Prayer in times of uncertainty, I also recite it before my more specific prayer fairly often. However prayer has no incorrect way. There are more accurate/effective ways than others but you cannot pray wrong. I do suggest, however, that you leave your prayers open, for instace, rather than asking for something specific, asking for help or instruction. I find it more effective to speak on the problem rather than the solution, this way you leave the solution to the Most High's judgment, seen. I usually ask for everything to be perfect and wonderful all the time. I never assume that I know better than the Most High, seen. I will say, for instance, God, you know what I'm going through, something has to give. And something usually does. The more open ended your prayers are, the more possibilities you allow for. Remeber there are infinate possibilities, why choose just one.

An African professor told us once that he and his family never pray with their eyes closed because, "when we Africans were taught to pray with our eyes closed by European missionaries, when we opened our eyes again our land was gone and we had a Bible in our hands."

Here is a reasoning I made a year ago

-------------------------
Some time ago I attended a bible study of a neighbour and friend. I attended the study once or twice to represent RasTafarI and observe the works.

After the studying of the scriptures, the men went to one side and the women went to another. Both groups were supposed to ask for something to be prayed for in the church. The requests were written down, and what I Iverstand from what they told I, the requests would be read in the church and the people of the church would pray for it.

One man asked for help finding a job, another asked for a promotion at their workplace, another asked for help in their studies, similar types of things were also requested of the others. When it came to I, I asked them to pray for more peace in the world, and for people to not suffer. I was told that I was supposed to ask for something personal and one bredren said, "don't you have anything thay you need for yourself".

I said that anything I need from Jah I just ask Jah. I told them that I didn't need others to pray for I.

The bredren then asked, "don't you think that there will be more effect if the people at the church prayed for it", I told him that it was not necessary and that I just have to ask Jah, because I faith and trust is in the Most High.

He said, "but don't you think that there is more power because many people are praying for it". I told him that it didn't matter how many people say the prayer, if a man trust in Jah, then all they have to do is ask. I showed him that I faith is in Jah and I know that all I need to do is ask Jah for what I need.

The bredren persisted with this idea for some more time so I told him that it was truly necessary for the other people and himself to get their prayers answered by having a large number of people praying, but that it wasn't necessary for I. I told him that it is necessary for him and them because that is there faith. But that I have all I faith and trust in Jah, so all I have to do is ask for what I need and RasTafarI will give as RasTafarI chooses. I told them that it was better that they pray for others instead of praying for I.

Two years ago somebody named Za-Za came to try to tell I and I that we can't pray directly to Jah and he also said that Christ told us that we can't pray directly to Jah.

This was I reply,
---------------------------
What does the I mean that I and I can't pray to Jah directly, of course I and I can. Christ told I and I that I and I can pray and ask things of HIM, but he never once said that I and I can't pray directly to the Father. For those that feel that they can't pray to the Father, they can pray to Christ. But for those that know that they can pray to Jah, then they can pray to Jah. And praying to Christ is praying to Jah, and praying to Jah is praying to Christ because they are One.

John 4
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
