You are, of course, correct that much of Brother Hemphill’s assertions are identical (or very similar to) propaganda offered repetitively by the right-wing groups which are put forth by the Babylon System to “balance” (offset) the typical corporate mainstream media (i.e., create even more confusion). Even when not afforded the same respect myself, I don’t like to suggest that someone’s ideas aren’t their own. You are correct that Hemphill’s prolific use of internet links to buttress his opinions and his refusal to engage in meaningful discussion of ideas (preferring to simply disdainfully dismiss the thoughts offered by others) tend to be more characteristic of a person parroting than a person who has developed their own convictions. But we really should not judge and we do not need to.
i genuinely respect your concern that the absurdity of juxtaposing some of these political fantasies with the Holiness of His Imperial Majesty is an attempt to “bring Rastafari down”. It is certainly the epitome of bathos in as much as politics in America is integral to the Babylon System and we, as Rastas, ultimately abhor Babylon’s politics (which are ALL deception) as opposed to embracing and extolling them.
Without dismissing your concern, i&I would encourage you that nothing any politician or vocal proponent thereof can say or do will ever amount to even one drop in a vast ocean compared to the utterly awesome, righteous Power of H.I.M. RastafarI.
