Additional perspectives from the Original Peoples on earth:
The Rainbow Serpent (Australia)
The Rainbow Serpent is the protector of the land, its people, and the source of all life. However, the Rainbow Serpent can also be a destructive force if it is not properly respected.
"The belief in the Rainbow Snake, a personification of fertility, increase (richness in propagation of plants and animals) and rain, is common throughout Australia...As the regenerative and reproductive power in nature and human beings, it is the main character in the region's major rituals."
The snake is an important and widespread African symbol of water and rainbow deities. The serpent is linked to Mami Wata with the rainbow deity complex among the Mina, Ewe, Aja, Fon, Yoruba, and Igbo in West Africa
Ouroboros, Symbol of Infinity
The serpent in the symbol represents the cycle of life and death that the Universe maintains. The snake eating its own tail simply represents the recreation of life through death by the Universe. It is interpreted as some kind of a rebirth of the dead reaching an immortality of sorts. This is why it is considered that the infinity symbol might have been derived from the original symbol of ouroboros.
