Menstrual Cramps and PMS
First Tea
1 tbls cramp bark
1 tbls pennyroyal
1 tbls valerian
1 tbls blue cohosh
½ t-sp ginger
Put about 1 tablespoon each of cramp bark and blue cohosh, in quart of boiling water. Let simmer for 20min. Turn of heat and add the 3 remaining ingredients Do not boil the last 3 ingredients as them essential oils will dissipate and lessen strength. Let steep for 20min. Drink ¼ to ½ cup every 15-30min until you experience relief..
A ginger foot bath with this tea may be helpful as it stimulates the blood flow and warms up the system. Put 1 tablespoon of powdered ginger in a small tub. Let feet soak for 15 or more minutes, add hot water as needed. One can make ginger tea in this way and place in in a compress, then place against uterus aswell.
Another Tea to try
2 tbl of raspberry leaf
2 tbl of nettles
1 tbl of spearmint
1 tbl of lemongrass
Add all to boiling water and let steep for 10min. Strain and drink 2-3 cups per day.
Yet another Tea to try
2 part Chamomile
1 part yarrow
1 part cramp bark
1 part skull cap
1 part peppermint
1 part squaw vine
Gently simmer cramp bark for 10 minutes, then add the other herbs and steep for an additional 10. Strain and drink ¼ cup until relief is felt. The ginger compress will also be effective in conjunction with this tea..
PMS and Cramp topical oil
12 drops lavender
6 drops marjoram
4 drops of chamomile
4 drops ginger
1-4 drops of cannabis oil (depending on strength, strain, and tolerance)
2 ounces vegetable oil
Mix all ingredients together and apply as needed, this will also work for lower back pain that accompanies menstrual cramps.
Vitamins and Minerals
Calcium/Magnesium tablet that contains 1000-2000mg of calcium and half that of magnesium. This can be taken 3-4 times a day during cycle, and at bedtime. Take with water, or mix with a couple of drops of apple cider, which will help in absorption into the system. This can also be combined with B6 for acute cramps and pain.. For some this is enough, but to take it a little further. Take a B-complex-50 to 100 three times a day. Women that are tobacco smokers or are on birth control (pill, patch, etc), will need extra B6 (50-400mg per day).
Vitamins B5, B12, and Folic Acid are stress and fatigue reducers. With Folic Acid being important for women with “suspicious” pap smears. Use 1000-3000mg of Vitamin C with bio-flavinoids to reduce heavy flows, and 400 IU per day of Vitamin D (total) for calcium exudations.
For Amino Acid incorporate as much Hemp seeds into the diet as possible.
I have included many different teas and options for the simple purpose that NOBODY is the same. You may have to play around with the Teas to see which one fits you personally. May JAH Bless and protect us all. If anyone has any further questions, feel free to ask.
