But if they were one why would he declare Jesus as his saviour? Would it not be better to say he is his own saviour? Which would be more like the usual rasta rhetoric - it's up to ourselves to save ourselves. Ic can can deal with that but he said JESUS was his saviour. Now we know as fact nobody named JESUS existed in that time period or anybody else with a J-name. And Yoshua translates to Joshua not Jesus so why did haile selassie declare Jesus?

Again, this is not what this thread is about it seems like it's impossible to discuss as I had intended

Haile Selassie I is the same Eternal God that has been since the beginning of Time. Selassie I is discreet, He never went out proclaiming his divinity and demanding worship.

I and I Rasta people recognize Selassie I's divinity through his Words and Works. And these are the same Irits of the One called Jesus Christ.

Rome does not have a monopoly on Christianity. Christianity existed in Ethiopia for many centuries without any kind of Roman imposition or domination.

If Jesus Christ never existed as you claim, why would Haile Selassie I believe that Jesus Christ existed?

By your logic Haile Selassie I would be misguided.

I want rasta to overstand in 2014 we have more awakening and more tools to our disposal that 100 years ago. People are able to research and find there own information. It is because of this we know there was no J in the Hebrew language and therefore if Jesus was real - that could Not have been his name.

As rasta we all know the way Rome portray their teachings according to the bible isn't always correct

Some of us as rasta also admit that the bible May not be entirely accurate - their May have been additions / deletion from Rome Etc etc.

We also note a recurring anti-indigenous theme within the bible especially referring to Africa, they seem to always be cursed. Is this correct?

What I would like to ascertain - now that we have the power of discern and of research available to us - which parts of the bible do you as rasta have a problem with if any? Or have researched and found is unlikely to be true?

Rather than just saying 'the bible isn't all true'. Or 'Rome changed some of it'

Let's take one step further and really assess (my rasta brethren wil say BUN assess but stay with me lol) what exactly are the inaccuracies? What do we need to put down what do we need to keep hold of?

Let's discuss the entire book collection of the bible and see if there really are things of concern and ungodliness - if so... What are these texts? Where did they come from? Who put them there and why? Etc

Let's try again part 5 .....

EleaAr - you see haile selassie as continuing the works of JC

I wouldn't compare any man to selassie, nobody could mean to I what selassie means to I. You put HIM on Jesus heights I put him above everything else.

It's blasphemous to I to hear rasta say Jesus and HIM are on the same level in terms of works. Haile selassie has done much more and means much to I than a man who has party tricks with some fish and bread and turns water to wine. David Blaine. Haile selassie a power is much much higher. The fact he had an empress and relationship with empress Menen means so much to I in terms of the balance between man and woman and ma'at. Nothing in Jesus life or the bible teaches this at this level. We are taught Jesus had no wife. We are taught that man is the head of the woman. You try telling that to your empress.....the bible speaks of the queen of heaven yet continually refers to the father and god as a he - we don't see the balance.

That's 1 example....... I'd say they had more differences than similarities. JC was pacafistic turning his cheek. selassie I was responsible for Guerilla warfare training in Africa to run out slavemaster and the apartheid boers. Ask Mandela where he was trained and who ordained it. Not very Jesus like of HIM.

But this once again is a whole different argument to what I had up forth rasta.

I'm not putting anyOne above anyOne else.

Selassie I is Jah, Christ is Jah, Emmanuel 7th Charles Edwards is Jah.

One is One with no Separation.

One God, One Aim, One Destiny as Garvey Say.

Haile Selassie the Almighty a I and I. And I. And I.......look within the I for the spirit of Haile Selassie (where the other names fit in I don't know)

Again, nothing to do with the topic at hand

Saying jesus is Jah apparently proves the life of jesus.

How am I avoiding the topic at hand? The topic is "Burn JC/Burn Bible".

I view is that a Man existed whose name has been translated through the centuries as "Jesus". In Ethiopia, they say "Iyasus Christos". Haile Selassie I, the central figure of the RasTafarI movement, spoke in a context indicating that the man whose name translated into English as "Jesus" was an actual historical person. That would imply to I that Jesus Christ existed in Reality.

Mankind thinks that they possess the ultimate wisdom. But that wisdom is just a drop of water in the ocean compared with God's Wisdom.

Christos is a Greek name - I'm glad you brought this up. Christianity comes to Ethiopia through the Greek understanding.... From the Cotpic church of Alexandria.

Why are we still listening to the Greeks?
Why are ETHIOPIANs saying their saviour has. A Greek name?

If that doesn't smell like European infiltration and corruption then I don't know what does.
+ how can a name be lost in translation? A name is a name no matter how it is translated.

I wonder, are the names Mark, Matthew, Luke and John translations from ancient names? Or were they the real names of the alleged authors of Jesus life?

Trying to keep respectful

Once again, by your logic Haile Selassie I and the countless Ethiopian Orthodox Christians that have lived throughout the centuries are misguided and subservient to a Greek/Roman mythology.

Here's a quote of Selassie I regarding paganism (context is Selassie speaking with Archbishop of Canterbury about Mussolini's invasion of Ethiopia):

-----------------------------------------------------
I will appeal to Mr. Eden that the Foreign Office look into the matter once again.” After this, We begged him not to forget Us through his prayers. “It appears,” he said, “that the wish of all the big powers is to see to it that Ethiopia’s case is forgotten. On my part, while I have no political influence, I have the means of communicating with our officials. Hence, I will constantly remind them not to forget Your Majesty’s case. So much injustice and evil have been irrefutably committed. Yet, the fact that it has not been possible to do something about it is a fact that will continue to pain me for the rest of my life.” By so saying, he expressed his deep regrets to Us. I responded to him: “For the last 3,000 years Ethiopia has been struggling against paganism. Yet, it is a sad commentary that today it is denied its own freedom by another Christian people.” No sooner had I said this, than he said before We took leave, “This is a question which has deeply affected my conscience. I beg you not to rub salt into it.”
