I have a few different vegetarian cook books. I usually just make recipes from them. I like the variety of foods and tastes I experience when I make recipes from many different countries.

I could maybe write out a few of the recipes that I like.

Here is one from a book called The Ethnic Vegetarian (Traditional and modern recipes from Africa, America, and the Caribbean). I really like this recipe. It has peanut butter, and the combination of the peanut butter and tomato sauce is very nice. Some people might not think they would like it because of the peanut butter, but the I them would be surprised.

May I just say that from a wholistic health perspective, ones should NEVER heat olive oil, as it turns from being good for ones health to being seriously toxic and detrimental to ones health.

One may observe this by heating olive oil and watching the golden yellow colour change to clear colour after heated for a minute.

In fact the only oils that can be heated (stable oils)are; coconut oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, or butter. "Blended/Vegetable" oil should never be used as it is more toxic than all of them (combination of different rancid oils that has been heated many times over and over)

Another thing is that microwave is not something I and I should use nor promote as it is seriously cancerous, it can actually change the protein molecules to toxin.

I am not sure about safflower oil, yet from what I remember it is not stable.

I know Mercola, i am subscribed to his health newsletter, through i am a health student and he has many new scientific updates. Yet, one must still read with overstanding and use the I full insight and wisdom to know the truth from the falsity. For example, there is a lot of propaganda he sells about vegetarians, another is that he is not much different from a pharmaceutical in the sense that he is trying to sell you so many products

I didn't know that about olive oil.

A microwave doesn't need to be used to heat the peanut butter. A pot works fine. And if I remember correctly, I think I just throw the peanut butter in with the pot of food, and just stir it and it melts pretty quickly.

As far as I know olive oil becomes toxic when it is over-heated. In this state it has the same effect as corn oil and is difficult for the body to break down. Thankfully its not cancerous. What is recommended is that because olive oil burns a a slower temperature rate than other oils its best to heat it to medium heat then fry whatever food you want. Its best to cook with the oil at med temps or have it uncooked in salads or drizzled over food as flavour.
I'm not sure abt the microwave thing, but I'd like to know does that include vegetable protein or is it only animal-based protein?

Someone once told me that using a microwave gives off about just as much radiation as does watching TV or using a cell phone.

Do the I them know if microwave is worse, or is all as bad as the other?

Hon Empress Ten, with all due raspect, the I is not saying a correct statement. You cannot even heat it at medium heat.

The olive oil DOES turns cancerous if heated that is why I, and any other authentic natural health practitioner and Rastafari would advise against it. The heat causes the fatty acid chains in the olive oil cross link with other molecules (as the chemical and atomic bonds are less stable in olive oil), when heated, and forms cis- or trans- fatty acids, which are fatty acids that has been oxidised, and so forms free radicals when they enter your body. Free radicals, as much as they are a normal part of life and are generated by simple normal natural processes such as exercising or eating or liver detox, yet they are the main cause of most degenerative diseases.

It is in the I interest to respect this counsel, sista, as Iman is in this field on a daily basis and have access to specialist info that even most Doctors have no knowledge nor comprehension of. Iman advising this as I see many of my Rasta bredren and sisdren, even elders, aging too quickly because of wrong eating and cooking habits, or malnutrition, or just plain lack of knowledge.

The microwave radiation is worse than a tv or radio, or even a cell phone. It was invented as a military convenience to heat up food in the WW2 and also caused most soldiers to contract all kind of cancers from its use then, and they had to reduce the radiation, but now it is still a hazard.

A CONSCIOUS AND TRUE RASTAFARI WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER USE A MICROWAVE TO HEAT UP ANYTHING AS THAT COMPLETELY DEFIES AND NULLIFIES THE ITAL KINGCIPLE AND LIVITY.

Again I show the I, that in love and goodwill do i pass this knowldege. Not too compete anyone, with no youthful,heated, egotistical person. I an I not goin to involve in the petty, insignificant, futile debates that go on around here much too much and too often. I an I have no time to mix up with such. Research it if you will, or link me up via email if you want to see the hundreds of scientific studies and references on both the harmful effects of heating olive oil,flaxseed oil,almond oil, etc, and microwaves also.

Just for the record also, concerning the excess credit given to the greeks with their socalled mediterranean diet and how 'healthy
they are supposed to be and they are the home of olive oil.

Contrary to popular belief, which is the propaganda campaign of the western world against the Black world, olive oil is NOT native to Greece, but to North Africa, from Nigeria all the way North, accross the desert and into Egypt there are date palms and olive trees all over.

Plus they were not even the first people to use the oil, it was the Africans (Keftihu, Kushites, Kamau) who taught them of its health benefits and these Africans NEVER USED THE OIL IN COOKING, THEY WOULD RATHER USE PALM OIL (WHICH IS MORE STABLE) IN COOKING AND OLIVE OIL ONLY IN SALADS.

sooo true about the microwave thing!!

I love to use Palm oil... although it's particular smokey flavour is only really used in indigenous cooking. It is like a cure all. Growing up, whatever was wrong with me... my mother would be like; 'lick some palm oil'. Palm oil and salt is like a general all purpose healer... lol... or so my mother thinks.

Do you know what though... sometimes IandI can buy some palm oil and it is mixed with wax... for bulk. Terrible things going on in the world. Dreadful times... like a nightmare... where everything is backward; food is poison, etc etc.
