"I have studied the Bible in its entirety for many years and my conclusion is to remove it completely from I psyche"
I&i can completely understand such a sentiment. As i have stated before that I&i find some beautiful poetry & teachings of Wisdom in the Bible which have been very useful to me personally in coping with the spiritual challenges that one faces in their trod through Babylon.
Nevertheless, I&i also find the Bible as a whole to be tedious, confusing, unnecessarily complicated, and filled with contradictory and/or irrelevant matter. To me, it's also obviously been adulterated.
To wit:
I&i enjoy the Sermon on the Mount, and find solace and wisdom in much of it. But as one reads it, one comes to this:
------------------------------------------------------
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
-----------------------------------------------------
and this:
-----------------------------------------------------
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
------------------------------------------------------
What are these doing here?
The first sets up any human male (with normal hormonal production and sex drive) who reacts to visually enticing visual female stimulus exactly as he is programmed to biologically as an adulterer "in his heart". That seems a bit ridiculous. As if that normal biological function can be suppressed or superseded by intellect or deep philosophical reflection.
The second seems like some legalistic matter culled from the local laws and ordinances of some time and place, and simply cut and pasted into this speech.
So, yes, G.A., I&i have frequently said that a RastafarI can find Truth and Wisdom without ever consulting a Bible (which may well lead him/her to more confusion than enlightenment). For virtually all matters, JAH speaks to us directly from within. As for external sources, might I&i suggest putting on a few hours of reggae music, and listening and dancing to it.
