Did you ever think of the words you say
as you dropped down on your knees to pray?
You asked your father up above
to forgive all things that you have done.
You then said you would do the same
but when push comes to shove you change the game
and claimed you're not the one to blame.

Did you ever think of the words you say
as you talked to your child the other day?
You asked them kindly to do their best,
please don't be like all the rest.
You then said you would do the same

and said you're not the one to blame.

Did you ever think of the words you say
as you talked to your lover the other day?
You asked them to love you and tell the truth
do those things that will be proof.
you then said you would do the same
but when push comes to shove you change the game
and loudly profess you're not the one to blame.

Do we ever think of the words we say
as we talk to people everyday.
We ask them to walk upright,
not to do things that will stir up strife
we then say we'll do the same,
but when push comes to shove
we need to stop changing the game
and realize it is us who is the one to blame
